Modern Family

The original kitchen, while of adequate size, was an untapped and under-utilized working and gathering space for a family of five. Hemmed in between the dining room and family room, it had little natural light, no view and was accessed through narrow passages. Its layout was disjointed and chaotic, and a short, sloped ceiling with skylights left no surfaces for wall cabinets.

We gutted the kitchen, reconnected it to the front hall and greatly expanded the connection to the family room and back yard. Cabinets are walnut, floors are mesquite and counter tops are stainless steel and Cararra marble.
