Porch Again

This Victorian home lost its original wood front porch years before its owners bought it. In its place stood a crumbling concrete and slate stoop along with some patched brick work. While we had no photos of the original porch, we were more than familiar with the "big Pittsburgh front porch", an icon of many East End streets.

The new porch incorporates many of the familiar features: a hip roof, spacious floor area for furniture and toys, wood columns on box pedestals and wide steps that lead the visitor straight to the front door. The entire street facade of the house was transformed - and a little bit of the street's decorum was returned.
