Pittsburgh is full of compact, square-footprint houses with limited storage, a single bathroom, and rooms that are difficult to furnish. These houses can be challenging to live in or improve without negatively impacting their scale and aesthetics. This house is no exception. With careful adjustments to stairs, walls and openings, we are able to provide the homeowner with a 21st c design – without an addition, and while respecting the home’s positive features. By gutting the entire structure, we can also achieve high levels of energy efficiency.
We look forward to seeing this home transition from the 1950s to the present!
